There nubmers are taken from an article appearing in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, _`Common man' vs. gun control_ by Samuel Francis. From the Time/CNN poll December 20 1993 issue: Do you favor stricter gun-control laws? Favor 70% Oppose 27% Do you favor mandatory registration of all guns? Favor 78% Oppose 21% Do you favor a law which would make it illegal for any private citizen to own a handgun for any puropse? Favor 23% Oppose 74% Do you have any guns of any type in your home? Yes 48% No 50% poll margin of error +/- 4.5% The article itself, _Up in Arm_, has some even more interesting statistics, though neo-fascist gun control freaks who falsely and foolishly believe public opinion is turning in their favor won't care for them, for instance: - number of people opposing handgun bans has been rising steadily. The 74% opposing such bans is UP 10% in just the last two months. - less than half of all American believe that stricter gun control laws will have any impact on violent crime, down from the 68% this past march. - Since control has been in the news, the past 16 months, the NRA has added 1,500 new members a day raising their member- ship from just under 2.5 million in 1991 to almost 3.3 million today. - Since passage of the Brady Bill gun store owners report a dramatic jump in gun sale (number not available yet) with high capacity semi-automatics being the weapons selling fastest. - In the year following the LA riots, gun sales rose 45% over the previous year. The Rooster P.S. The article mentions an essay by Jeffrey Snyder called " A Nation of Cowards", that appeared in _The Public Interest_ Anyone have an idea where one could get a copy? -- "Trust me" from a man is laughable; "Trust me" from a woman is the law. Birth control created the right of women to choose and the expectation of men to trust. Today, every man who puts a penis in a woman's body also puts his life in a woman's hand - Warren Farrell, Ph.D. _The Myth of Male Power_
