This is an open letter to Moncton MP George Rideout from the New Brunswick Firearms Alliance. This method of corresponding is considered necessary since Mr. Rideout refuses to meet with the NBFA in a public forum and before the media.

Mr. Rideout, the following are a list of simple questions that require simple answers to which the NBFA would like responses via this newspaper. This is in order for your constituents to understand your position on Mr. Rock's firearm legislation, Bill C-68.

1) Did you support former Prime Minister Kim Campbell's firearm control provisions including Bill C-17 and the regulation calling for a large number of previously unregistered firearms to be registered? Yes or No.

2) Do you support Allan Rock in his January 1, 1995 regulation to prohibit these same firearms, which became possible with the earlier registration? Yes or No.

3) The number of firearms affected were 13, 172. Were any of these ever used in violent crime? Yes or No. If Yes, how many?

4) Is it not a fact that very recently, law abiding Canadians who registered firearms in 1992 had them prohibited? Yes or No.

5) Do you support the registration of all firearms in Canada? Yes or No.

6) Does Bill C-68 permit the prohibition of any firearm by regulation? Yes or No.

7) Does Allan Rock intend to use the above provision, once in place, to ban the commonly used Mini-14 hunting rife? Yes or No.

8) Have any legally acquired firearms subsequently deemed prohibited by Allan Rock, been confiscated from law abiding citizens in New Brunswick? Yes or No.

9) Is it your opinion that firearm owners have a legitimate concern about having more of their property prohibited? Yes or No.. If your response is yes, will you vote against C-68 if these concerns are not addressed?

The NBFA and your constituents await your public response. Thank you once again for your time on this extremely important issue.
