by John R. Lott and David B. Mustard

Crime, Deterrence, and Right-to-Carry Concealed Handguns, by John R. Lott, Olin Fellow in Law and Economics at the University of Chicago Law School and David B. Mustard, graduate student at the Department of Economics, was released on July 26, 1996, and generated a lot of attention in the media.

The article appeared in the January 1997 issue of the Journal of Legal Studies and the authors have made it available over the World Wide Web in several formats, including PDF and HTML.

This site has only the HTML and PDF versions, but the working paper is available in several formats from the main site: http://www.law.uchicago.edu/Publications/Working/41.html.

The final version is in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) and requires a free viewer.

The HTML version also requires the footnotes. Table 3-17 is in HTML format, as well as Table 13. If you are taking copies for yourself, be sure you get all the files.
